Description

Imperial (Gongting) Ripe Pu’er is made from the most tender early spring buds, considered the most delicate part of the tea plant. Compared to larger leaves, bud material contains relatively lower polyphenol levels and higher aromatic compounds, resulting in a softer, smoother liquor with pronounced sweetness and refined fragrance.

During fermentation, these tender buds develop a mellow body and rich sweetness, forming notes of dark sugar, dried fruit, and creamy depth. The infusion is thick yet silky, coating the mouth with gentle warmth and leaving a lingering sweet aftertaste.

Due to the fine, broken structure of bud-grade material, extraction occurs more quickly. This can create the impression of strong early infusions followed by lighter later steeps. However, when brewed with shorter initial infusions and adjusted timing, Gongting Shu Pu’er reveals stable sweetness and layered smoothness throughout the session.

While some collectors prefer coarse-leaf material for long aging potential, high-grade bud Pu’er offers its own charm — elegant aroma development, silky texture, and immediate drinkability, with gradual refinement over time.

A refined tea for those who appreciate softness, sweetness, and clarity in ripe Pu’er.
