Description

Yiwu is one of the Six Great Tea Mountains of Pu’er, historically recorded as a region of abundant and high-quality tea. The name “Yiwu” originates from Dai language — Yi meaning “beautiful woman” and Wu meaning “snake,” a poetic local expression of mystery and vitality. The mountain’s elevation varies dramatically, creating layered climates: warm, humid, mist-covered ridges with fertile red soil — ideal conditions for slow-growing ancient tea trees.

This 2022 Yiwu Gushu Sheng Pu’er is crafted from large-leaf material harvested from ancient trees, known for deep roots, rich internal compounds, and elegant flavor. The dry leaves appear tight, thick, charcoal-green with golden tips, showing robust bud-leaf structure. The aroma carries a light forest scent — clean, deep, slightly wild — a signature breath of untouched mountain ecology.

Once brewed, the liquor turns bright golden and crystal clear, like light amber. Early steeps present fresh floral and grassy clarity, later developing into warm honeyed sweetness, smooth and persistent. True to Yiwu character, the body is soft, silky, and free of harsh bitterness, yet with powerful returning sweetness (huigan) that rises gradually and lasts long in the throat. Each sip is full, balanced, and comforting — gentle in entrance but profound in depth.

The infused leaves are thick, elastic, vibrant yellow-green, showing vitality and careful processing. Even after many infusions, they remain whole and lively, reflecting both the quality of the material and the precision of craftsmanship.

A tea to drink slowly —
quiet, sweet, forest-like, unfolding layer by layer.
One that grows with time in the cup, and even more with years in storage.
