Description

Ya Shi Xiang is one of the most iconic Phoenix Dancong oolongs. The name originates from the local soil in Phoenix Mountain — farmers humorously called the grey-black soil “duck shit soil” to prevent others from discovering how good the tea was. Ironically, the name stayed, and the tea became legendary.

This tea is crafted from semi-oxidized leaves through traditional Dancong processing. The dry leaves are thick, dark, and glossy, while the liquor brews clear yellow-gold, releasing elegant orchid-like fragrance. Unlike its crude name, the tea itself is bright, floral, and refined, showing depth across many steeps.

On the palate, Ya Shi Xiang is smooth, sweet, and refreshing, with strong returning sweetness and mouth-watering sensation. The aroma persists through multiple infusions — one reason it’s often called the “perfume of tea.” Rich in polyphenols, catechins, and amino acids, it is uplifting, throat-soothing, and exceptionally suitable for daily work or long study hours.

Brewing Recommendation

6–8g | 90–95°C | 120ml (Gaiwan preferred)

Flash rinse → 1st steep 8–12s → Increase time gradually
Can brew 8+ infusions with stable fragrance.

Higher temperature highlights floral sharpness and sweet finish.
