Description

Shuixian is a traditional and historic oolong from the Wuyi Mountains, celebrated for its full-bodied, creamy mouthfeel and gentle orchid fragrance. The tea’s name comes from Minnan dialect, where “water” implies beauty — suggesting that this tea from the scenic mountains is as graceful as the narcissus flower that blooms in early spring.

Compared with Rougui, known for its sharp fragrance, Shuixian is admired for its depth and softness, delivering richness without aggression. Among Shuixian teas, Lao Cong Shuixian (Old Bush Narcissus) is especially treasured — typically from bushes over 50 years old. Aged roots dig deep into rocky soil, drawing concentrated minerals that translate into thick liquor, layered flavor, and long-lasting aftertaste. Its signature cong wei — hints of moss, aged wood, and bamboo leaf — distinguishes old-tree Shuixian from younger material.

The dry leaves are dark, tight, and glossy. When brewed, the liquor shines amber to orange-gold, releasing orchid fragrance with subtle wood tones. The taste is mellow, rounded, and smooth, with slow-building sweetness and a returning throat comfort. Each infusion unfolds gradually, revealing the elegant minerality and warm character of Wuyi rock tea.

Shuixian is ideal for drinkers who appreciate silk-like texture, floral-warm complexity, and lingering Yan Yun — a rock tea that speaks softly yet stays long in the heart.

Brewing Recommendation

6–8g | 95–100°C | 120ml (Gaiwan or Yixing pot)

Flash rinse → short steeps (8–12s) → increase time gradually.
Suitable for 8+ infusions.

Tip: Higher temperature highlights rock rhyme & aged wood notes.
Old bush material benefits from slightly longer steeps to release depth.
